Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speaking. Feminist Frequency is a site that hosts videos and commentaries analysing portrayals women in pop media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Feminist Frequency is a non-for profit website that focuses on female representations in popular cultural narratives is founded and directed by Sarkeesian. Committed to destroying the stereotypes related to women in popular culture, she also works with issues that relate to the gender-specific harassment of women as well as other classes of people on the internet. Sarkeesian holds a Masters in social and political thinking from York University. As a public speaker, she is highly sought after and has given talks at TEDxWomenXOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. While a student at university, Sarkeesian became interested in the issues surrounding gender and rights for women at an early stage. The ambitious lady planned to create a web series on gender representation in video games and was the subject of a harassment online campaign. The woman was not stopped by the assault, actually, it just reinforced her desire to become an expert on media and feminism. In recognition of the many accomplishments she's made to feminist movements, she has been the recipient of numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winner for her work as a journalist. She was also the creator and director of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit group that focuses on pop-culture gender representations.
